Policy Statement
Havenstride UK Care Staffing is committed to safeguarding vulnerable adults and ensuring that individuals receiving care are protected from abuse, neglect, or harm.
We follow safeguarding principles expected by the Care Quality Commission.
Definition of Safeguarding
Safeguarding means protecting individuals from:
- Abuse
- Neglect
- Exploitation
- Harm or discrimination
Particularly vulnerable individuals include:
- Elderly persons
- Individuals with disabilities
- People with mental health conditions
Types of Abuse
Staff should be aware of the following forms of abuse:
Physical Abuse
Hitting, pushing, or misuse of medication.
Emotional or Psychological Abuse
Bullying, threats, humiliation, or intimidation.
Financial Abuse
Misuse of money, property, or financial assets.
Sexual Abuse
Any non-consensual sexual activity.
Neglect
Failure to meet essential needs such as food, medication, or hygiene.
Staff Responsibilities
All staff must:
- Treat service users with dignity and respect
- Be alert to signs of abuse
- Report safeguarding concerns immediately
- Follow safeguarding procedures
Failure to report concerns may result in disciplinary action.
Reporting Safeguarding Concerns
If abuse is suspected:
- Ensure the immediate safety of the individual
- Report the concern to your supervisor or manager
- Document the incident accurately
- Follow safeguarding reporting procedures
Serious incidents may be reported to appropriate authorities.
Confidentiality
Safeguarding information will be handled confidentially and only shared where necessary to protect individuals.
Training
All staff will receive safeguarding training and updates to ensure they understand their responsibilities.

Purpose
This Code of Conduct outlines the professional standards expected from all employees working with Havenstride UK Care Staffing.
Staff must always act in a way that promotes trust, safety, and dignity.
Professional Behaviour
Staff must:
- Treat all individuals with respect and compassion
- Maintain professionalism at all times
- Work cooperatively with colleagues and healthcare professionals
Respect and Dignity
Care workers must respect the dignity, privacy, and independence of individuals receiving care.
Discrimination based on:
- Age
- Gender
- Disability
- Religion
- Ethnicity
will not be tolerated.
Confidentiality
Personal information about service users must remain confidential.
Information should only be shared where required for care or legal reasons.
Health and Safety
Staff must follow all workplace health and safety procedures including:
- Infection control
- Safe moving and handling
- Incident reporting
Professional Boundaries
Care staff must maintain appropriate professional boundaries with service users and their families.
Staff must not:
- Accept inappropriate gifts
- Borrow money
- Form exploitative relationships
Reporting Concerns
Staff must report concerns relating to:
- Safeguarding issues
- Unsafe practices
- Professional misconduct
Compliance
Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action.
